These are my top five favorite reads of 2025! Also make sure to join my email list so you never miss when I drop a new post. All my reviews give an out of five star rating, quick review, content warnings, and spice levels (one pepper being kisses, five being open door spice). So, without further ado, here are my reads from this past month!
The Thirteenth Child by Erin A. Craig: In a retelling of Godfather Death, this book follows the story of a young girl, who is born as the thirteenth child to a poor farmer and his wife. The god of Death comes to them and promises to give them riches untold if they give him their daughter. They agree, and their daughter is taken and taught to be a doctor. A doctor who sees the dead and is sent to finish you when the end is near.
Content Warnings: Mild cussing, suggestive comments, alcohol consumption, and sexual touches (not the actual act)

Dark Disciple by Christie Golden (a Star Wars novel): Asajj Ventress has taken up work as a bounty hunter and wants nothing more than to avoid the Jedi and Sith. Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos is sent to find her and get her help in an assassination attempt on Count Dooku. What was meant to be one simple mission, grows to be a lot more and something that neither can escape from.
P.S. Star Wars romances tend to be pretty corny, but this one was so good!
Content Warnings: Alcohol consumption, human trafficking, mild cussing, suggestive comments, and witchcraft

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (book one of a duology): Elspeth Spindle is diseased. With black magic in her veins, there is a monster in her head. She calls him the Nightmare. But her life takes a turn for the worse when the King's nephew comes looking for her. A man who is guilty of high treason.
Content Warnings: Suggestive comments, alcohol consumption, abuse, possession, communing with the dead, severe cussing, and open door spice (I skipped this scene, so I do not know how detailed it was)

100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons: Tessa has become blind after a car accident. Weston is a boy who has been crippled since childhood. As Tessa is battling her despair, Weston offers her a light she can't deny even blind. THIS IS THE BEST ROMANCE I HAVE EVER READ! It attacked the victimhood mentality of our culture, and was REAL romance and NOT lust.
Content Warnings: Mild cussing
Spice Level: 🌶️
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sunrise of The Reaping by Suzanne Collins (a Hunger Games novel): Before Katniss Everdeen but after Snow's rise to power, Haymitch was forced to fight in the Hunger Games. Just like the other tributes, one toe out of line could mean the death of everyone he loves. Only, he didn't think about that bit, and he does everything he can to prove his defiance to the Capitol. When he finally stops to think, the punishment he faces is beyond anything he was prepared to deal with.
Content Warnings: Alcohol consumption, mild gore, violence
Spice Level: 🌶️
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
