Story Anchor holds two contests a year, the summer flash fiction contest and the winter poetry contest. These contests exist to give writers the opportunity to share their work in an uplifting enviroment. 

This post is specific to the winter poetry contest, so if you are are looking for information on the summer flash fiction contest then please head to THIS POST. For those of you who are here for the poetry contest, welcome. Please read the following instructions thoroughly and comment below with any questions, comments, or concerns. 

 
PRIZES

First Place: First place will recieve a copy of Kara Swanson's brand new book, Ignite, and their poem will be posted on Story Anchor!

Second Place: Second place will receive a ten dollar gift card to Barnes and Noble, and their poem will be posted on Story Anchor!

Third Place: Third place will have their poem posted on Story Anchor!

Your poem may be as long as you would like it be, so long as it is at least six lines in length. DO NOT include crude or profane language, sexual content or excessive gore.

Submissions open on Jan. 11th at 12:00am Central Time and close at Feb. 11th at 11:59pm Central Time.

In order to join the contest, you must be on my email list, which you may join by heading to this landing page.
 
HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST IF YOU'RE NOT ON THE EMAIL LIST YET

  1. Sign up for my email list. (The pop-up that likely showed up when you opened this blog post is for subscribing to the blog. It is NOT for the email list.)
  2. Confirm your subscription. (Keep the confirmation email; it will be used again later.)
  3. Write your poem. (At least 6 lines in length but it can be longer; any theme or genre, but keep to the content limitation.)
  4. Reply to the confirmation email with your poem attached.

  1. Go to any of the recent emails.
  2. Reply to the email with your poem attached.

  1. Set up your own email.
  2. Send it to me with your poem attached.

    1. Yes you can, however, Barnes and Noble may not be accessible from anywhere in the world.

  2. I am slightly confused on how to enter this contest. I am already on your email list for your blog. Is there a second list specific to the contest that I need to sign up for? Just want to make sure I get this right. :) Thank you!
