Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (book two of the Hunger Games trilogy): Katniss barely made it through the last Hunger Games and is just starting to figure out the pieces of her life again. However, a Quarter Quell is approaching, and the twists the Capitol has up its sleeves may never be in her favor.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (a Hunger Games novel): Decades before Katniss Everdeen, young Coriolanus Snow had to fight for every meal that came his way. The odds finally align in his favor when he is selected to mentor the District 12 girl in the Hunger Games. If everything goes right, he can get himself back on his feet, but one wrong step could mean dishonor worse than death.

Sunrise of The Reaping by Suzanne Collins (a Hunger Games novel): Before Katniss Everdeen but after Snow's rise to power, Haymitch was forced to fight in the Hunger Games. Just like the other tributes, one toe out of line could mean the death of everyone he loves. Only, he didn't think about that bit, and he does everything he can to prove his defiance to the Capitol. When he finally stops to think, the punishment he faces is beyond anything he was prepared to deal with.
