Q&A
Q&A
Some of you may remember that the email list has reached 50 subscribers!!! To celebrate we decided to do a Q&A session!!!! I'm so excited to answer your questions so lets get right in!
1."What moment in your life did you realize you wanted to write for a career/occupation?"
That's a really good question! The dream to write went in and out when I was little. I think when I truly decided I wanted to be a writer was about three years ago.
2. "What sparked your love of writing?"
I've always loved to write. Even before I could spell I'd narrate my stories to me mom, and have her write them.
3. "Do you like cherries or blueberries more than cookie monster?"
I love that question! Definitely cherries!
4. "What's your favorite series?"
Lord of the Rings!!!!!! That's easy.
5. "How do you overcome writer's block?"
Oh writer's block, worst thing ever! I had to work on my consistency. Once I was writing every day, writer's block stopped being a problem.
6. "What is the best time of day to write for you?"
Either early in the morning or late at night, there is no in-between.
7. "Are pickled onions or radishes grossest?"
I seriously doubt that's a word. Onions probably, never tried either.
8. "Who's your favorite author?"
J.R.R. Tolkien!
9. "Do you have a favorite story that you've ever written?"
OHH, picking between my stories is like picking a favorite child for me!!! Ah! I can't decide!
10. "How many people asked you Q and A's that actually made sense?"
Most people
11. "If you had to pick an author that you think you write the most like, which one would it be?"
Um, that's hard. I can tend to be long winded in some descriptions similar to Tolkien, but I definitely have a far more modern style to my writing. Honestly, I really depends on the last book I was reading. My style changes a little when I read and switch to writing.
12. "Why did you decide to self-publish? (no judgment, I think it's great that you are doing it, just wondering what your reasons were to follow that path instead of traditional)"
That's a super good question! I intend to self-publish my first book, so that I have more experience when I eventually try to traditional publish. I do hope to eventually be traditionally published.
13. "Can you remember the first story you ever wrote?"
I can't, but I do remember the first story I was proud of writing. I was eight and the story was called The Land of Magical Creatures.
14. "If you could spend the day with any one character from any of your books or short stories or even poems, which would you choose?"
Again this is like picking a favorite child for me! I can't choose!
15. "What advice would you give to a writer who's parents aren't extremely supportive?"
That's really hard. First of all, don't quit! Even if it's hard don't give up! I'd suggest talking to your parents about why you love to write and what it means to you.
16. "How do you deal with loss of inspiration/motivation?"
I force myself to keep going. I know that isn't super helpful, but sometimes it's just that you have to write a boring part in your story. Well I know that's not fun, once you're through that part the lack inspiration is mended.
17. "What is your favorite editing tool?"
Usually when it comes to editing I just ask for help. I'm not very good at edits, so it's hard for me to do it without help.
18. "If you absolutely had to pick two of your characters (any two from any book or short story, even from different story's) to be a couple, which two would you choose?"
Peter Pan and Claire from The Heirs of Neverland. That was just such a well done romance, and I don't like romance so that's saying a lot! (not my book, but still one of my favorites)
19. "Do you like writing sad or happy scenes more?"
Definitely sad.
20. "What is your favorite dessert?"
ICE CREAM!!!!!!!
21. "Do you speak pirate or use a translator?"
That's a wonderful question! I can speak pirate.
22. "How would you like people to be effected by your stories and books? Would you like them to learn certain lessons, or mostly just to be entertained? "
I'd like them to walk away, remembering what it is Christ did for them.
23. "Where would you go on a dream vacation? This includes any book world as well!"
Middle Earth!!!!
24. "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
I don't know you tell me.
25. "Have any people who've read your stories mis-interpreted them, to mean something that you did intend to convey?"
Not to my knowledge, but I have had to drop ideas because of a likely hood people wouldn't understand them.
26. "If you had to pick a favorite book, what would be the lucky volume?"
Just one book!!!!!! OHHH! AHHH! Dawn of Wonder maybe, but Shadow is so good!
27. "What is your favorite pair of shoes that you have?"
Well...that was random. I prefer to not wear shoes if I have the option.
28. "Have your written any characters that, as you write, have changed personality-wise in ways you didn't intend originally?"
Yes! Let that be a lesson to you. If you are writing a book over 20,000 words outline it!
29. "Is it hot chocolate or hot cocoa? (i.e., what do you call the rich chocolatey drink that you have in the winter?)"
Hot chocolate, obviously
30. "What hobbies do you have when you aren't writing?"
I'm gonna count poetry and songwriting as part of writing. So without those, knitting, reading, archery, gardening, drawing, and painting.
31. "When someone reads one of your books, when they finish it, what do you want them to walk away saying?"
Christ's love for me, as a sinner, is so miraculous, and I want to put my faith in Him!"
