A Poem
The Ballad of the Sailor
The swirling mass of silver blue
The pounding fists of azure too,
Only the bravest hear her call,
Only the strongest by her will fall
To the sailor, Ah! the wave that hath the white water shawl,
Is sweeter than the siren’s call
But, the sea he hath love so violently
May in fact take him silently
Art thee as brave as the sailor is
Will thee risk thy life and limb
To live on that which not be his?
When the dark clouds roll in
Will thee say farewell to thy kin
And when the creatures, forever a wonder,
Pull thee and thy ship forever under
Will thee stand as the sailor did,
Or art thee as the coward who ran and hid?

I love this poem, it's exhibits such rich feeling. The sailor, doing what he loves most even when it brings his end. A beautiful poem. -Claire on my phone

ReplyDeleteAh yes…. the courage it takes to explore beyond the safe structures of established shores.
ReplyDeleteMay your vessel be worthy and your compass be true. When you come to the cross-streams, the voice that reveals what is brave and courageous will be your own - grounded by and in alignment with God’s Spirit and Truth.
