2 Timothy 2:22

 2 Timothy 2:22

There was once a girl, she was hardly 16 but she was very wise for her age. Her name was Pure Heart and she longed for what was true, best and pure. She lived in the town Youthful Lusts. In this town there was no school, there were no vegetables, there were no parents and especially no rules. Everyone did what was right in their own eyes. Pure Heart had lived here all her life but as she grew older she enjoyed it less and less and now that she was sixteen she wanted to leave and be rid of the place and its impurities. She decided to tell her "friends" that she was leaving first though, so as to not worry them.

She found her friends at the local bar/bowling alley. Her friends, Depressed,  Guilty, and Insecure, are often Distracted, they distract themselves with food and fun things, they feel better for a moment but as soon as they stop distracting themselves they're Depressed, Guilty, and Insecure again.

Pure Heart came up to Depressed, Guilty, and Insecure, and sat down. She began to explain to them her dilemma.

"I feel not right here. Something is absent from my life. I want to feel full. I yearn for freedom from the weight of the wrongs I've done. Remember those 4 people who passed through our city? Righteousness, Faith, Love, and Peace? I want to be like them, I want to have what they have. And that is something I do not think I will ever find here. I have decided to leave this city of Youthful Lust and follow Righteousness, Faith, Love and Peace!"

But her friends still didn't seem to understand why she wanted to leave.

"Is not the food a good reason to stay?" Asked Depressed, who often would forget her depression in her gluttony.

"No, it is not, I want to be forever happy not momentarily happy." Answered Pure Heart.

"What about fun?" asked Guilty who would forget his guilt in his momentary happiness, "Like spray painting on buildings and taking things from department stores?"

Pure Heart sighed, "That isn't true fun, it's vandalism and stealing," at that Guilty winced and plugged his ears.

Pure Heart continued, "And it only makes me feel even more guilty once I've done it. I want to be free from guilt, and have fun doing good things."

"But won't you miss making fun of others?" Asked Insecure who would often forget her insecurities in causing others pain.

"No, I feel like we only tease others about their appearance to distract ourselves from the fact that we do not like ourselves."

Insecure turned away mumbling to herself, and Depressed said to Pure Heart, "Pure Heart you have to stay, you won't survive anywhere else, you need to stay."

"But don't you see that I cannot, Depressed! I must leave!"

Pure Heart got up to leave but Depressed, Guilty and Insecure got up as well and began to follow her. Pure Heart started running. She ran to the gates of the city but all the while her "friends" followed, yelling for her to come back. Although, as soon as Pure Heart crossed to the other side of the gates, her friends halted. They wouldn't leave the city.

Guilty and Depressed gave up and turned to go back to their food and "fun" yelling behind them that Pure Heart would regret her decision but Insecure stayed, staring after Pure Heart. She sort of wanted to follow but she couldn't bring herself to leave the city of Youthful Lust.

Pure Heart walked for a while down the path leading away from the city until she came to a stop at the crossroads. She remembered that Righteousness said that they were going to the city called Salvation so she turned to the right and thus Pure Heart fled Youthful Lust and pursued Righteousness, Faith, Love and Peace.
